Fuelling the fire of controversy created by DMK Youth Wing Chief Udhaynidhi Stalin on sanatan Dharma, son of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank Kharge has now come into support for Udhaynidhi Stalin and has endorsed his view saying that, "Any religion that does not give equal rights or does not treat you like humans is as good as disease".
Speaking at a conference on ‘Eradicating Sanathana Dharma From the Society’ on Saturday organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers, Artists Association, Udhayanidhi said Sanathana Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion and uprooting it will only lead to upholding humanity and human equality. In his speech, he had also called Sanatan Dharma a disease, comparing it to fatal diseases such as Malaria, Dengue and Corona and called for eradication of Sanatan Dharma.
This statement was met with fierce criticism from Hindus and BJP alike, calling the statement a ‘call for genocide’ and also branded the newly formed ‘I.N.D.I.A’ alliance as ‘Anti-Hindu’. Addressing a press conference, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the ‘I.N.D.I.A’ alliance can go to any extent for votes.
“Udhayanidhi Stalin has compared Sanatana Dharma with Dengue and Malaria
“Udhayanidhi Stalin has compared Sanatana Dharma with Dengue and Malaria. The big question is why is Rahul Gandhi silent? It's been two days. He says that he is a Hindu, and goes to temples. He is proving that he did it for votes. Why are Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav silent? INDIA bloc is opposing the Hindu religion for votes. Their basic thought is anti-Hindu. This is their trend to go to any extent for votes,” he said. “I want to remind all of them that Sanatan is eternal. the foundation pillar of India's culture and heritage is Sanatan,” the BJP leader said.
However, what is truly ironic is that other than Priyank Kharge very few of the opposition leaders are daring to comment on this matter and least of all endorse his views, with Acharya Pramod Krishnam even hitting out at Stalin.
Sanatan Dharma is the oldest religion in the world
"Sanatan Dharma is the oldest religion in the world. This remark is not just against Sanatan Dharma, but also against India,” said the Congress leader. Acharya Pramod attacked the anti-Hindu mindset and asserted that political leaders are thronging to abuse Hindus and their culture as if it's the new fashion he said. "It has become a fashion to abuse Hindus in the country... You cannot imagine India without Sanatan Dharma," said Acharya Pramod.
After all, the Hindus are the majority in this country and any national party would not like to lose the Hindu vote bank, especially after all the PR activities that the opposition leaders have done by going to temples and praying to deities.
However, what Acharya Pramod Krishnam has said is true and is something many people across party lines will agree, that abusing Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma and its practices and rituals has become rather fashionable. We have already seen various ‘liberal’ influential people such as actors, cricketers, academicians and political leaders who degrade and slander the Hindu religion and Sanantan Dharma and its practices, day in day out, while they continuously appease and make special provisions and exceptions for Muslims and other minorities.
It is also to be noted that like the case system in Hinduism that the opposition leaders do not like, they have perhaps forgotten that even other religions have a concept of sects and classes of people where there is discrimination even among those sects.
