The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced Nitin Nabin as its new national president.

The change of leadership took place in a big event that saw several top party leaders in attendance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outgoing BJP president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and many union ministers were present as Nabin took charge.

Nitin Nabin was chosen to lead the BJP without any other names being considered for the post. His selection was strongly supported by Prime Minister Modi.

He comes from a political family. His father, the late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, was a senior BJP leader and served four times as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Nitin Nabin entered politics in 2006, soon after his father’s death. That year, he reportedly won a by-election from Patna West.

At just 45 years old, Nitin Nabin is the youngest leader ever to become the BJP national president. He is also the 12th person to hold this position in the party’s history.

Nabin’s rise to the top post came with strong backing from the party leadership, especially from Prime Minister Modi. There were no other candidates in the race, making his appointment a unanimous choice by the party.
