The Delhi Police reported an incident involving Anas Khan, son of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan, accusing him of misbehaviour during a routine vehicle inspection. The police said they stopped the motorcycle, a black Royal Enfield Bullet, due to its loud, modified silencer. Anas allegedly refused to cooperate and claimed special treatment because he is the son of an MLA.

Incident during routine patrol

As part of their Republic Day safety patrol, officers in the Jamia Nagar area stopped a motorcycle on Nafees Road, Batla House, where the riders were seen zigzagging through traffic and making noise with a modified silencer. The bike was stopped, and the riders were asked to provide their driving license and registration certificate (RC).

One of the riders, identified as Anas Khan, allegedly told the officers, “I don’t need a license or RC. I am the son of MLA Amanatullah Khan, and you can’t issue me a challan.” Anas then called his father, Amanatullah Khan, who reportedly also spoke disrespectfully to the police over the phone, even daring them to arrest him.

Legal actions taken

The police registered multiple violations against the two youths, including using a modified silencer, riding without a license, not wearing a helmet, dangerous driving, and misbehaving with police. They cited sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including U/s 3/181, 5/180, 39/192, 194d, 132/179, and 184. The modified bike was impounded, and Anas was fined Rs 20,000.

This is not the first time Anas Khan has faced trouble. He was previously arrested by the Noida Police in an assault case involving a petrol pump staff member.

So far, neither Amanatullah Khan nor the Aam Aadmi Party have commented on the issue.
