Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to launch 14,000 projects worth more than ₹10 lakh crore in Uttar Pradesh today through the Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC 4.0), as part of the state's preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The announcement comes amidst the backdrop of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) in Lucknow, where discussions on investment and development have been underway.

At the 4th ground-breaking ceremony for proposals made during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit, PM Modi said that in the last seven years, the red tape culture has been ended, and a red carpet culture has been introduced. He added that crime has reduced in UP and the business culture has expanded.

PM Modi stated, "We are gathered here with the resolve to build ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ for ‘Viksit Bharat’. Today, lakhs and crores of rupees of investment are coming into Uttar Pradesh," highlighting the positive shift in perceptions regarding investment and employment opportunities in the state.

During the ceremony, PM Modi unveiled plans to launch 14,000 projects across Uttar Pradesh, spanning various sectors including manufacturing, renewable energy, IT, food processing, housing, real estate, hospitality, and education. These projects, with a total investment exceeding ₹10 lakh crore, are aimed at driving economic growth and generating employment opportunities in the state.

As per the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham Temple in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the government's commitment to cultural and religious development alongside economic initiatives. He will also unveil the model of the temple, constructed by Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Trust.

Here are 10 key updates on PM Modi's visit to Uttar Pradesh for the UPGIS

  1. PM Modi is set to lay the foundation stone of the Shri Kalki Dham Temple in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, reaffirming the government's commitment to religious and cultural development.
  2. He will also unveil the model of the temple, constructed by Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Trust, in the presence of various religious leaders and dignitaries.
  3. In the afternoon session, PM Modi will inaugurate 14,000 projects across Uttar Pradesh, worth more than ₹10 lakh crore, based on investment proposals received during the UP Global Investors Summit 2023.
  4. These projects, totalling 14,537, cover sectors like manufacturing, renewable energy, IT and ITeS, food processing, housing, hospitality, education, and more, reflecting a diverse portfolio of development schemes.
  5. The investment breakdown includes 300 projects with investments of ₹500 crores, 895 projects ranging from ₹100 to 500 crores, 4,577 initiatives with investments from ₹10 to 100 crores, and 8,735 projects with investments from ₹1 to 10 crores.
  6. Upon implementation, these projects are expected to generate over 34 lakh jobs, providing a significant boost to employment opportunities in the state.
  7. The ceremony will witness the participation of around 5,000 attendees, including industrialists, representatives of global and Indian firms, ambassadors, high commissioners, and other distinguished guests, highlighting the global interest in Uttar Pradesh's development.
  8. Last year's UPGIS collected investment proposals amounting to ₹40 lakh crore, showcasing the state's growing appeal as an investment destination.
  9. Sectoral sessions during the summit will focus on key areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), foreign direct investment (FDI), and corporate social responsibility (CSR), fostering direct interaction between stakeholders and promoting collaboration for impactful initiatives.
  10. Ahead of the ceremony, Mayur Maheshwari, CEO of UPSIDA, revealed that nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore worth of MoUs have been prepared for GBC 4.0 across more than 45 districts of Uttar Pradesh, indicating widespread interest and potential for development.
