Arvind Kejriwal returns to Tihar jail as the interim bail ends: Says "I am also ready to be hanged" like Bhagat Singh

“I am going back to jail not because I was involved in corruption but because I raised my voice against dictatorship.”: Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal returns to Tihar jail on Sunday evening as the 21-day interim bail grant granted to him by the Supreme Court ended. He was given an interim bail for campaigning in the Lok Sabha election, and the duration of his bail expired on 1st June as the polling ended.

He addressed the Party workers by saying, “I am going back to jail not because I was involved in corruption but because I raised my voice against dictatorship.”

Kejriwal remembered freedom fighter Bhagat Singh while addressing his party “Bhagat Singh said that when the power becomes a dictatorship, then jail becomes a responsibility,” he quoted.

Comparing himself to Bhagat Singh he said, “He went to jail to free the country, we are going to jail to save the country.” He added that he didn’t know when he would come back from the jail but he promised that he won’t bow down in front of injustice.

“If Bhagat Singh was hanged, I am also ready to be hanged. Every drop of my blood is for this country. Every moment of my life is for the country,” Kejriwal said while AAP workers chanted slogans against dictatorship.

Before returning to Tihar, he paid a visit to Rajghat offering tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He also went to the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir located in Connaught Place.

While referring to the exit polls, Delhi CM said, “Take it in writing, all these exit polls are fake… The real issue is why they had to do a fake exit poll three days before the day of counting.”

The AAP leader also accused EVM of tampering and told party workers to stay at counting stations till the end to verify results with VVPAT slips.
