Kangana Ranaut, the actor-turned-parliamentarian, has shared her views on the work culture in India, urging people to become more dedicated to their jobs. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, Kangana believes that being 'obsessed' with work is essential for the country's progress.
In an Instagram Story, Kangana posted a video of PM Modi discussing the importance of working tirelessly for the nation. She emphasized the need to normalize an 'obsessive' work culture and criticized the mindset of waiting for weekends, describing it as "Western brainwashing." According to Kangana, India is not yet a developed nation, and this mindset needs to change.
Kangana's comments align with a similar statement made by Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, who also stressed the importance of hard work for India's economic growth. In a podcast earlier this year, Murthy highlighted that India's work productivity is among the lowest globally. He argued that to compete with leading economies like China and Japan, young Indians must be willing to work extra hours.
Murthy suggested that young workers should adopt a mindset of working 70 hours a week to help boost the nation's productivity and compete on a global scale.
Kangana Ranaut: From Bollywood to BJP MP
Kangana Ranaut, now a BJP MP, made her political debut by winning the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh, defeating her nearest Congress competitor by more over 74,000 votes. However, her success was followed by an incident at Chandigarh airport in which she claimed that a female CISF constable attacked and abused her. The constable, who was apparently disturbed by Kangana's stance on the farmers' protests, was later suspended, and a FIR was filed against her.
