A Tit for Tat situation has emerged in Haryana's Samaspur village ahead of the upcoming Haryana Elections, where voters challenge all the candidates to drink a glass of dirty and smelly water supplied in their area. The villagers issued this challenge to the candidates of all the political parties, seeking their votes, PTI reported.
The villagers, part of the Charkhi Dadri constituency, allege that they are being forced to buy drinking water as the supplied water is dirty and not even fit for the animals' consumption. The residents spoke up, saying that they had been facing this problem for over a decade. A villager told PTI that "none of the candidates will dare to drink this water." "Every election they promise us water and electricity but do nothing," he added.
The Haryana assembly elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on October 5 for 90 seats. Meanwhile, the counting will take place on October 8.
BJP vs. Congress
The state is holding a fierce battle between the BJP and Congress, with the ruling party pushing hard to retain their dominance while Congress wants to make a comeback. On Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked the people not to be misled by the opposition as the cabinet minister accused the Congress of not fulfilling its poll promises.
Singh, during his address, claimed that the upcoming state election is about choosing between "development and destruction." Singh claimed that his party fulfilled their promises and provided Rs 78,000 crore for the development of the state compared to Congress' Rs 21,564 crore.
Meanwhile, Congress urged the people of the state to remove the BJP from power, calling it a fight against injustice, untruth, and the wicked. "Today, this is your fight against injustice, untruth, and the wicked ("Dushton"). You will have to stand up; you will have to look within yourself and see what is happening," Priyanka Gandhi stated.
