The Income Tax Department raided the house of former BJP MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore in Madhya Pradesh. During the raid, they found gold, crores of cash, and cars that appeared to be in someone else's name. To their surprise, they also found three crocodiles in a small pond at the house. The raid was part of an investigation into possible tax evasion related to a 'Bidi' business.

Crocodiles and financial irregularities found

The raid started on Sunday as part of a bigger investigation into tax evasion by Harvansh Rathore and former councillor Rajesh Kesharwani. Both are business partners in the bidi industry. Officials found that Kesharwani avoided paying Rs 140 crore in taxes and also owns a construction company. The discovery of crocodiles at Rathore’s house shocked the raid team, so they contacted the forest department to deal with the situation.

During the searches at properties owned by Kesharwani's family, the authorities found several imported cars that seemed to be registered in someone else’s name. The Income Tax Department has now asked the Transport Department to find out who are the real owners of these cars.

Harvansh Rathore is a well-known businessman and the son of former minister Harnam Singh Rathore. He was elected as an MLA in 2013 and had also been a strong candidate to become the district chief.
