Amid the row of speculations blaming involvement of Facebook employees in influencing election campaigns in India, a massive twist has showed up which washes out all claims of Congress saying ‘Facebook is pro-BJP.’
The only connection of Facebook officials with BJP and the IT Ministry is because they are running one of the world’s top companies in India and it is impossible and unprofessional to not maintain relationship with the government of the country.
Ankhi Das used to express open admiration for Mamata Banerjee’s political campaign of ‘poribortan (transformation)’ and the ‘Aam Aadmi (common man)‘ gimmick of Arvind Kejriwal the screenshots of which have been attached.
In a Facebook post slamming ‘cynics’, she even clearly mentioned about her political inclination towards Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal. Moreover, writing an opinion piece in ‘Daily-O’ titled, “The battle for Delhi on Facebook”, she had praised the Facebook campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party.
These were just the starters because today the Managing Director of Facebook India Ajit Mohan while appearing before the Standing Committee for Information Technology admitted that he had worked as a consultant with the Congress party in Kerala.
Mohan was also involved with the Planning Commission and Ministry of Urban Development during the UPA government. During the course of the interview Mohan said that he has now withdrawn all the articles he had written against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
This meeting with the Facebook India MD came after IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg alleging that there has been a concerted effort by Facebook to delete pages which subscribe to the right-of-centre ideology.
There were several other tweets, posts by Facebook officials like Vijay Moorthy who certainly ‘Hate’ BJP and support opposition parties yet they are blamed to have connections in influencing election campaigns which is quite ironical.
