Popular devotional singer Kanhaiya Mittal has hinted at his entry into the political arena ahead of the Haryana elections. Known for his widely admired song “Jo Ram Ko Laye Hain”, the singer has hinted at joining the Congress party. These speculation arises as the Haryana Assembly elections come closer, with Mittal expressing his desire to be part of the party, which has intrigued many observers.

Mittal has been previously seen aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and is reportedly disappointed with the party after being denied a ticket from Panchkula. Mittal shared his feelings: "It’s in my heart that I should join Congress, and in the days to come, it will become clear.”

One of Mittal's concerns is the perception of the audience, that wherever he performs, people assume he is campaigning for the BJP. “Wherever I go to perform, a perception is created that I am there to campaign for the BJP. As a result, people who are with Congress remain at their homes. I want to change that perception,” he explained.

His words came at a time when rumors of his dissatisfaction with the BJP over a ticket snub were circulating. Despite this, Mittal shares his voice about his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Clarifying his stance, Mittal said, “The PM has done unprecedented work, no one can do that. I can say this, even today. We can’t get a PM like him.”

However, Mittal emphasized that his consideration to join the Congress party is a personal choice and does not change his respect for Modi's leadership. He added, “If Dr. Manmohan Singh had built the Ram Temple, I would have sung for him as well. I will do nothing that will be against Sanatan.”

Adding oil to the speculations about his political shift, Mittal recently posted a picture of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi meeting with wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia on his social media account. His message of “Many congratulations and thanks” gave rise to more speculations regarding his evolving political stance.

The BJP recently released its first list of 67 candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections. Gian Chand Gupta has been selected from Panchkula, while other leaders like Anil Vij, Kanwar Pal Gurjar, and Bhavya Bishnoi are also set to contest.
