Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal questioned by CBI in excise policy case, Trial court appearance expected

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has alleged that the central government is conspiring against Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. The CBI recorded his statement while he was in Tihar jail. According to sources, the CBI plans to present Kejriwal before the trial court on Wednesday, June 26 and may request his custody.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has alleged that the central government is conspiring against Kejriwal. He claimed, “With a strong possibility of Kejriwal getting bail from the Supreme Court, sources inform me that the Centre is planning to arrest him using a fake CBI case. The entire nation stands with Kejriwal in solidarity.”

Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court stayed a trial court’s decision to grant regular bail to Kejriwal. Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain noted that the trial court had not adequately considered the evidence submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The judge agreed with Additional Solicitor-General S.V. Raju’s argument that the ED was not given enough opportunity to present its case against granting bail.

“The trial court Judge did not appropriately appreciate the material/documents submitted on record and the pleas taken by ED,” the High Court stated.
