The Election Commission has announced that over 1.55 crore voters in Delhi will cast their votes for the Assembly election on February 5, 2025. The results will be declared on February 8. The election will decide the members of Delhi’s 70-seat Assembly, 12 of which are reserved. A total of 13,033 polling stations have been set up to ensure smooth voting.

The schedule released by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar states that the last date for filing nominations is January 17, while January 20 is the last day for candidates to withdraw their names. With this announcement, the model code of conduct has come into effect in the national capital.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar shared steps to make voting easy. He said that more than 2 lakh young people will be voting for the first time. Special arrangements have been made for elderly people and those with disabilities. Additionally, people who are 85 years of age or older can vote from their homes if needed.

Mr. Kumar responded to worries about electronic voting machines (EVMs), saying, "EVMs cannot be hacked." He explained that all claims of tampering have been fully checked and proven false. He also assured that the Election Commission carefully follows proper rules when making changes to voter lists, rejecting any claims of wrongdoing.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, is aiming for a third consecutive win. Kejriwal called on party workers to give their best effort, saying, “You are our greatest strength. This is an election between the politics of work and the politics of abuses.” Meanwhile, the BJP is making strong efforts to challenge the ruling party, and the Congress is running independently, targeting both the AAP and BJP.
