The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) found a humorous way to express their take on the Opposition INDIA's recent move. They shared a light-hearted cartoon featuring Rahul Gandhi, following the announcement of his candidacy as the prime ministerial candidate by the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The cartoon in question depicts Rahul Gandhi at the helm of a plane, with the caption reading, "Brand new (Old). Hot air INDIA- Your ticket to disaster".

Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha election

This satirical post by the BJP was a response to the announcement made by Rajasthan Chief Minister and seasoned Congress leader, Ashok Gehlot. He had declared that Rahul Gandhi was set to be the prime ministerial candidate for the Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

In a conversation with India Today/Aaj Tak, when asked if Rahul Gandhi could spearhead the Opposition's fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gehlot responded, "An alliance has been formed. All the parties in the alliance deliberate and a decision is taken. The face of the Congress is Rahul Gandhi. The prime ministerial face of the Congress is Rahul Gandhi. He was and will remain our prime ministerial candidate."

He further added, "(Congress chief Mallikarjun) Kharge ji himself said this. There is no issue at all."

Gehlot also addressed the formation of the alliance, acknowledging local factors in each election, but emphasized that the current national climate had created "immense pressure" on all parties. "The public has created such pressure, resulting in an alliance of all parties," he added.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, or INDIA, is a coalition formed by the leaders of 26 parties with the aim of challenging the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not held back from criticising the newly formed Opposition coalition. He has claimed that INDIA was a bloc formed to "promote corruption" rather than serve the nation.

In his critique, he added that the Opposition's primary interest was personal gain, with their motto being "family first and nation nothing".
