New Delhi: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government over 'vaccine shortage' in the country while taking a jibe at Health Minister Harsh Vardhan over the shortage of vaccines.
Taking to Twitter, the former Union finance minister shared data suggesting that there has been a steep decline in the number of vaccinations as compared to April 2. He questioned the Centre's vaccination strategy claiming that the jabs administered daily going down.
Harsh Vardhan on Saturday reviewed public health response to Covid-19 and progress of vaccination in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
All the state health administrators were advised to increase ICU and oxygenated beds, undertake oxygen audits, take stock of availability of medicines in the state and strengthen their medical workforce.
However, Harsh Vardhan today said that the number of vaccine doses administered in India will reach 51.6 crores by the end of July. The country has so far administered over 18 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible beneficiaries.
