Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has faced backlash as BJP rebukes Kangana Ranaut over her recent remarks related to the farmers' protest, which ignited a controversy. The BJP party leadership has publicly shown disapproval of Ranaut’s remark, clarifying that her comments do not reflect the party’s official stance.

The BJP issued a statement highlighting that Ranaut, who is a BJP Member of Parliament representing Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency, is not authorized to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party. "Kangana Ranaut is not authorized to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party and has not been given permission to do so. The BJP has directed Ms. Ranaut to refrain from making such statements in the future," the party declared.

BJP Rebukes Kangana Ranaut: Leaders Call for Caution on Sensitive Issues

This rebuke from the BJP came a day after Ranaut said that the farmers' protest could have led to a crisis in India similar to the one experienced in Bangladesh if the government had not intervened with strong measures. Her remarks gained a lot of criticism, even from within her own party.

Senior BJP leaders from Haryana and Punjab, regions that were at the epicenter of the year-long farmers' protest, also advised Ranaut to avoid making such comments on sensitive issues. Harjit Grewal, a prominent BJP leader from Punjab, stated, "It is not Kangana's department to speak on farmers, Kangana's statement is personal. PM Modi and the BJP are farmer-friendly. The Opposition parties are working against us, and Kangana's statement is doing the same. She should not make such statements, especially on sensitive or religious issues."

Ranaut's comments also gained attention from the opposition Congress party. Randeep Surjewala, a senior Congress leader, criticized the BJP for allowing such statements and questioned whether Ranaut was speaking on behalf of someone within the party. "Were these just Kangana's words, or did someone else copy them? If not, then why is the BJP silent on the issue?" Surjewala asked. He made these remarks while campaigning in Haryana, a state that witnessed unrest during the farmers' protest against the now-repealed three farm laws.

Kangana Ranaut has a history of making provocative statements, particularly against the farmers' protest. In 2020, she was again in controversy after allegedly misidentifying a woman farmer from Punjab who participated in the protests. Ranaut had incorrectly referred to the woman as Bilkis Bano, an elderly figure associated with the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. She also suggested that the woman could be hired for protests, saying that she was "available for ₹ 100." This statement caused a chaos and has continued to ruin Ranaut's public image.

Recently, in June of this year, Ranaut was slapped by a woman constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Chandigarh airport while en route to Delhi, a clear reaction to her provocative statements.
