Centre to propose six new bills for Parliament’s monsoon session

The government will present a bill to amend the existing disaster management law, seeking to enhance disaster preparedness and response mechanisms.

According to reports, the Centre will present six new laws, including amendments to the Disaster Management Law and the Finance Bill, are set to shape the Parliament’s monsoon session.
The government will also unveil the Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak 2024, which would replace the existing Aircraft Act 1934 and make it easier to do business in civil aviation. These measures aim to modernize various sectors, such as civil aviation, boilers, coffee, and rubber industries. The monsoon session is scheduled from July 22 to August 12.

  1. Amendments to Disaster Management Law: The government will present a bill to amend the existing disaster management law. This move seeks to enhance disaster preparedness and response mechanisms.
  2. Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024: In a bid to facilitate ease of doing business in the civil aviation sector, the government plans to replace the outdated Aircraft Act of 1934 with the Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024.
  3. Other Bills: Alongside the Finance Bill and the Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, several other bills are on the agenda. These include the Boilers Bill, the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, and the Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on Tuesday, July 23.
