Tripurari Kumar Tiwari, also known as Manish Kashyap, a YouTuber from Bihar, has recently become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His membership was formalized in Delhi with BJP MP Manoj Tiwari welcoming him. Last year, Kashyap faced legal trouble for spreading unverified news about attacks on Bihari workers in Tamil Nadu, which led to widespread fear and the return of many migrants to Bihar. He was detained and faced legal proceedings in Tamil Nadu, resulting in a nine-month imprisonment.

Political Aspirations and Controversies

Previously, Kashyap had plans to run for the Lok Sabha from the West Champaran constituency as an independent, challenging the incumbent BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. However, his incorporation into the BJP has removed him from that contest. Manoj Tiwari, known for his Bhojpuri singing and acting, was instrumental in persuading Kashyap to join the party after visiting him earlier this year.

Kashyap’s decision to join the BJP was influenced by his mother’s support and admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed his eagerness to contribute to the party and highlight issues against national interests.

A History of Legal Challenges

Kashyap, 34, has been involved in several controversies, including a 2019 incident where he was accused of soliciting unauthorized donations online. He faced legal actions for potentially endangering a police officer’s life and was linked to property damage at a local hospital. That same year, he was arrested following an assault on Kashmiri traders in Patna. Despite these challenges, he ran unsuccessfully for a legislative seat in 2020 and faced multiple legal cases for disseminating false information about migrant attacks.

Looking ahead, there is speculation that the BJP might nominate him for the upcoming State Assembly elections.
