In a tragic incident, the Porsche driver arrested a 17-year-old teenager, who was involved in a car accident that claimed the lives of two people in Pune, Maharashtra. The Pune police have taken significant actions following the incident.

The father of the minor who happens to be a prominent builder, was detained by the police from Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar. He had been evading arrest since the offence was registered against him.

"The father was trying to evade arrest ever since the offence was registered against him. This morning, we detained him, and after he was brought to Pune, there was a formal arrest," Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated.

Also arrested were Pralhad Bhutada, owner of Cosie, and Sandip Sangale, owner of Blak Club. The licence holders of these two restaurants were also arrested late last night and will be produced in court today. The real estate builder has constructed a five-star hotel and owns a well-known club in the city in addition to a number of other noteworthy projects.

This came to light just one day after the adolescent's father and four others—including the managers of the restaurants Cosie and Blak Club—were accused of "failing to do his duty as a guardian" in violation of the relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA) and the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).

Authorities stated that the father was detained by the Yerawada police for permitting the juvenile to drive a vehicle without a licence and that restaurant owners and employees were charged for serving alcohol to a minor.

The police have invoked relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) and the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA). These include:

  • Section 3: No person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless they hold an effective driving licence.
  • Section 5: The owner or person in charge of a motor vehicle is responsible for ensuring that no one who doesn’t meet the provisions of sections 3 or 4 drives the vehicle.
  • Section 199A: Use of the motor vehicle by the juvenile presumed to be with the consent of the guardian.
  • Section 75: Punishment if any person having control of a child assaults, abandons, abuses, or wilfully neglects the child.
  • Section 77: Punishment for exploitation of a child employee.

The authorities took immediate action upon discovering that the Porsche, bought by the father for his son in March of this year, had not been registered yet.
