A 12th grade student from school in Rajasthan, who was a victim of a gang rape incident the previous year, was denied the opportunity to sit for her board exams, according to her complaint. She was quoted by NDTV as saying that school authorities expressed concerns that her presence would disrupt the school environment.

Contrarily, the school in Ajmer justified their actions by stating that the girl had been absent from school for a period of four months, which led to her not receiving an admit card for the board exams.

In response to this, the student sought advice from another teacher, who recommended her to contact the child helpline. The Child Welfare Commission (CWC) of Ajmer took note of the situation, registered a case, and initiated an investigation.

Anjali Sharma, chairperson of the CWC, talked to NDTV about the ongoing investigation into a rape incident. Sharma said the main focus of the investigation is to help the victim take her board exams. Additionally, Sharma spoke with the student about the rape.

The school had suggested that the girl continue her studies at home, citing concerns that her presence could affect the school’s atmosphere. The girl agreed to their proposal and prepared for her board exams at home, she informed Sharma.

The girl revealed to Sharma that she had achieved a score of 79% in her tenth-grade board exams and believed she could have performed even better in her twelfth-grade exams. However, she might lose a year due to the school’s negligence, Sharma told NDTV.

Despite this, the school declined to provide her with an admit card for the board exams, stating that she was no longer a student there, according to the CWC chief. She added that the girl later discovered that the school had prohibited her from entering the premises immediately after the rape incident as other parents had objected to her presence.
