In a horrific incident similar of the 2018 Burari case, the bodies of a farmer, his wife, and their three children were discovered in their home in Ravdi village, Alirajpur district, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday. According to PTI news agency, the authorities assume it is a suicide.
The individuals have been identified as Rakesh Dodwa (27), his wife Lalita Dodwa (25), and their sons Prakash (7) and Akshay (5). Rakesh, Lalita, and their two sons' bodies were discovered hanging from the ceiling, while their daughter Laxmi (9) was found laying on the ground.
An official stated that "prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide," based on initial reports. However, a villager later clarified that the girl's body was on the floor. The discovery was made around 9:20 AM on Monday morning.
A team lead by Alirajpur's Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) has initiated an extensive investigation into the occurrence. Despite the fact that no suicide note was found at the scene, investigators believe the tragedy occurred between 7 p.m. on Sunday and 6 a.m. on Monday.
Central Figure in Alirajpur Incident: Rakesh Dodwa
Rakesh Dodwa, a farmer who previously worked as a mason in Gujarat, is at the centre of this tragic incident. A dog squad and forensic team have collected fingerprints from the scene, and an Indore-based forensic team is likely to join the probe shortly. Post-mortem examinations are being videotaped for further scrutiny.
The Burari Case
This tragedy is eerily similar to the 2018 Burari case in Delhi, in which eleven members of a family were discovered dead under strange circumstances on July 1, 2018. Ten people were discovered hanging in the courtyard, blindfolded and with their lips taped, while an elderly woman was found strangled in another room. Handwritten notes suggested that the family believed in achieving redemption through specific rites, which led to their deaths.
The Burari fatalities were later attributed to shared delusion or psychosis, with family member Lalit Chundawat suspected of orchestrating the events, believing that his deceased father's spirit had taken over his body to direct the family.
"The notes discuss how one can achieve salvation and how the human body is temporary but the soul always lives on," stated PTI, citing an investigating officer.
