A dreadful incident occurred in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, where a 26-year-old woman tourist from Hyderabad lost her life in a paragliding accident. According to the police, negligence on the part of the pilot led to this unfortunate incident.
Reports from the police state that the safety belt of the tourist was not properly secured by the pilot before the paragliding session, causing her to fall from a significant height and meet a tragic end. This failure to ensure the safety of the tourist has resulted in the pilot's arrest.
Sunaina Sharma, the tourism officer, confirmed that the pilot involved was registered, and the equipment used was approved. Despite this, the lack of attention to securing the safety of the tourist has led to this tragic outcome. Sharma attributed the incident to human error rather than any issues with the site or equipment, emphasizing that there were no weather-related concerns.
Following the incident, a postmortem of the woman's body was conducted at the Regional Hospital Kullu, and arrangements are being made to hand over the body to her family for the final rites.
In response to the tragedy, the District Collector of Kullu, Torul S Raveesh, has initiated a magistrate inquiry into the incident. Additionally, an FIR has been lodged under sections 336 and 334 of the IPC at the Patlikuhal Police Station to investigate the matter further.
As a precautionary measure, all paragliding activities have been suspended in Dobhi village, where the accident occurred. This temporary halt in operations aims to assess and ensure the safety protocols of paragliding activities in the area.
