Two main culprits in the case have been taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) following the bombing of the Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru on March 1. Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazeb, the two main absconders in the Rameshwaram cafe blast case, were located and detained by the NIA team after being tracked to their hiding place near Kolkata on early morning hours on Friday.
The NIA teams were successful in tracing the absconding accused near Kolkata, where they were hiding under false identities. This pursuit, successfully accomplished by NIA was ably supported by energetic coordinated action and co-operation between NIA, central intelligence agencies, and state police agencies of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala police," the NIA said in a statement given to ANI.
Mussavir Hussain Shazeb placed the improvised explosive device (IED) at the cafe and Abdul Matheen Taha was the brains behind the blast's preparation, execution, and subsequent escape from the grip of the law. while the intention behind the blast is still unknown, it will be revealed sooner as NIA will investigate both the primary accused.
Earlier, NIA arrested Muzammil Shareef, a resident of Chikkamagaluru on march 26, who extended logistics support to the main accused persons. NIA on march 29, released pictures and information of both the accused on their verified X handle. Both the primary accused are residents of Thirthahalli area in Karnataka. "Earlier as part of efforts to locate and arrest the accused persons, NIA conducted searches on 18 locations in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu," NIA said in a statement.
NIA was handed over Rameshwaram cafe blast case on 3rd march in which no casualty was reported but 10 people were injured in the blast.
