For a whopping $4,470 (approximately Rs 4 lakh), the world of high-end luxury fashion has been left in awe of the imaginative creativity and sense of humor ushered into top-end haute couture. Moschino continues to draw interest with its quirky designs in parts of the world.
A clutch that looks like celery
Moschino labels this piece a "Maxi celery-shaped clutch," complete with a precise digital print that gives it a 3D effect. According to the brand, in addition to pointing out the “irreverent spirit,” of Moschino, each leaf for the accessory is made out of Nappa leather in two kinds of green, giving an organic, realistic look to the clutch. While some may think a stalk of celery as a handbag is strange, the object has received equal amounts of awe and confusion on social media.
On social media, reactions range from amused to baffled. A user humorously commented, “Mummy: dhaniya kaha hai? Me: dhaniya waley bag mein,” capturing the playful spirit of Moschino’s eccentric design. Another commented, “Sometimes I feel that the luxury brands mock the humankind.” A third chimed in, “These people are taking good notes from Balenciaga marketing stunts,” while others noted it as a modern twist on the famous "Bagwati" concept.
Food-inspired fashion—A growing trend
It is not the first time Moschino has tried to experiment with food-inspired designs. The Italian brand made their presence felt earlier with a baguette-shaped bag that cost $1,205 or around Rs 1 lakh. The item resembled plucked from a bakery. Next in the series comes the Rosetta bag which is a nostalgic touch combined with current trends and the Bakery Paper Bag for €450 or about Rs 40,000.
Moschino isn't the first brand to go out and indulge in gimmicks. After all, just last month Balenciaga released a potato chip packet bag and Louis Vuitton launched a mega-minuscule handbag that left more than a few of us wondering if it was creativity or folly.
