India has officially been ranked No. 1 as the most affordable country for digital nomads, according to the Global Digital Nomad Report 2025 by Global Citizen Solutions, a firm specialising in residency and citizenship through investment. Along with India, Indonesia from Asia has secured the fourth spot on the list.

India’s top ranking is credited to its unique blend of bustling metros like Delhi and Mumbai, offering abundant co-working spaces and rich cultural experiences, alongside relaxed destinations like Goa, known for its beaches, Portuguese-inspired architecture, and easygoing lifestyle. With low-cost housing, affordable local cuisine, and budget-friendly workspaces, digital nomads can enjoy a high-quality lifestyle without overspending.

The report evaluated 64 countries based on cost of living, hot desk availability, and digital nomad visa programs. The results confirm that affordability, covering essentials like rent, food, transport, and co-working spaces, has become a top priority for remote professionals planning long-term stays abroad.

The digital nomad lifestyle, once considered niche, has now become mainstream. Thanks to faster internet, remote job opportunities, and flexible work schedules, many professionals are swapping office cubicles for co-working cafés, beachside villas, and mountain getaways. But the key question is: where can one enjoy a good quality of life and work productively without spending too much?

To address this, the Global Digital Nomad Report 2025 lists the Top 10 Most Affordable Countries for Digital Nomads, blending low-cost living with vibrant cultures, lifestyle benefits, and strong remote work infrastructure.
