While hearing a case concerning an offence relating to pornography, the Kerala High Court stated the importance of giving proper home cooked food to kids and advised parents to deter their kids from ordering food from restaurants through Swiggy or Zomato.

The High Court during the case quashed the charges against a man who was caught by the police while he was watching pornographic content on his mobile. The court while quashing his charges, said that watching pornography in private is not an offence as long as he does not exhibit or share it to others under section 292 of the Indian Penal Code.

In his judgement PV Kunhikrishnan said that parents should not allow children to order food from restaurants through Swiggy and Zomato on their own and also persuaded the parents to let their kids play sports like cricket or football and play outdoors rather than on their mobiles.

Kerala High Court said :

“Instead of purchasing food from restaurants through ‘swiggy’ and ‘zomato’, let the children taste the delicious food made by their mother and let the children play on playgrounds at that time and come back home to the mesmerizing smell of mother’s food,” the Kerala High Court said.

The judge in his judgement also raised a cautionary note to the parents regarding the use of mobiles and the potential dangers associated with it. He also warned the parents against allowing minor children to use mobile phones without proper parental supervision. The court also stated that these days it is quite easy to procure and access explicit content including pornographic content on smartphones with the use of the internet.
