Vande Bharat Express set for upgrades: Diverse dining, infotainment boost, and more!
From Exclusive Menus to Onboard Infotainment – A Comprehensive Upgrade for Passengers on India's Premium Trains
Indian Railways is set to enhance the travel experience for passengers on Vande Bharat Express trains through a new initiative called Yatri Seva Anubandh. This pilot project will initially be implemented on six pairs of Vande Bharat trains, with the potential for expansion to other premium trains if successful. The aim of this initiative is to provide a world-class travel experience by introducing concierge services, onboard infotainment, and access to travel essentials.
One significant aspect of the Yatri Seva Anubandh initiative is the focus on offering passengers more options for food and beverages, thereby improving overall travel convenience through value-added services. The initiative aims to streamline and reduce Indian Railways’ expenditure on housekeeping by integrating services under a single provider per train. This integration will not only enhance the passenger experience but also open up revenue streams for the service provider through advertising within the trains and the provision of ancillary services.
Under this initiative, the service provider will have the responsibility to sell food and beverages to passengers at predetermined rates. Additionally, the provider will address minor issues such as jammed doors, loose latches, and leaking taps using a basic toolkit. Free housekeeping services in all coaches will also be a requirement for the service provider. Prepaid meals will be served according to the menu and tariffs set by Indian Railways.
To further enhance passenger services, additional facilities will be offered at originating and terminating stations. These facilities include a cab service from the station, wheelchairs for specially abled passengers, buggy drives, and availability of travel essentials and accessories on board. The comprehensive approach aims to make the entire travel experience seamless and convenient for passengers.
In terms of entertainment during the journey, the Railways plans to implement a quality onboard infotainment system. This system will provide passengers with content that enhances their knowledge about laws related to data protection, broadcasting, and intellectual property rights. The inclusion of such informative content adds an educational aspect to the travel experience.
An exclusive food menu is another highlight of the Yatri Seva Anubandh initiative. Passengers will have multiple choices of food from a menu prepared in ISO-certified base kitchens. This move is aimed at ensuring that passengers aboard Vande Bharat Express trains enjoy hygienic cuisine. The emphasis on food quality and variety reflects the commitment to providing a premium travel experience for passengers.
