Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Monday launched more than 2000 rail projects which are worth Rs 41,000 crores via video conferencing and laid the foundation stones for the redevelopment for 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Several governors and CMs apart from MPs and MLAs from all across the country also joined this programme.

According to a Union Railway Ministry spokesperson, these stations are spread across 27 states and union territories and will be redeveloped at the cost of Rs 19,000 crores. It is being said that these stations will be used as city centres and will consist of roof plazas, landscaping, inter modal connectivity, improved modern façades, kids play areas, kiosks, and food courts. They will also be environment-friendly and accessible to people with disabilities.

The Prime Minister will also lay foundation stones, inaugurating and dedicating 1,500 road overbridges and underpasses to the country. These will be spread across 24 States and Union Territories and the total cost for these projects is around ₹21,520 crore.

PM Modi while inaugurating the rail projects said that people are seeing a new India being built in the past 10 years and talked about the transformation of the railways, including the launch of the Vande Bharat. He also took a jab on the previous governments, saying that ever since he came to power, his government stopped the loot of public money and used every single rupee the railways earned in expanding Indian railways.

PM Modi also said that Indian Railways used to be a victim of politics but it is now the main basis of the ease of travel and also is a big source of employment in the country. He also cautioned the people of India that saying the increase in the budget due to the country's growing economy will not have an impact on the ground if revenue leaks due to scams. "I want to tell youngsters that their dreams are my resolve. Your dreams and hard work and my resolve are a guarantee of Viksit Bharat," he said.
