Works are in progress for the construction of India’s largest aquarium, aviary and boardwalk, at the Eco Park at Kothwalguda.

In response to a Twitter user who asked if Hyderabad can have a tunnel aquarium under its lake, KTR said that the initiative has already been taken up.

He further added that special chief secretary Arvind Kumar will be sharing pictures and details of the ongoing works soon.

The brand new addition, which will further scale up the city’s aesthetics, will feature wondrous tunnels in the midst of blue waters and huge enclosures with myriad sea creatures — in line with similar mega-structures in Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai.

"Exciting news! We are developing an eco-park at Kothwalguda featuring attractions such as an Aviary, Boardwalk, Aquarium, food courts, Amphitheater etc. We're thrilled to announce that works are already in progress. Stay tuned!," the HMDA tweeted on Tuesday.

The HMDA also shared graphical representations of the proposed park and aquarium, which looks stunning.

The 6-acre aviary will have a wide variety of birds from different parts of the world. Apart from the aviary and aquarium, the Kothwalguda Eco-Park will have a 2.5-kilometre boardwalk, a butterfly garden, a sensory park, an open-air theatre, flora, and landscaping. HMDA has also suggested building opulent timber cabins, camping tents, an infinity pool, and a conference hall.

They have already invited tenders for the development of a resort, food courts and adventure zone on a design-built-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) mode,” officials said. The resort will have a minimum of 50 units of wooden cottages, each measuring at least 500 sft with facilities equivalent to a 3-star hotel.
