Bengaluru to get South Asia's tallest Skydeck, Karnataka government approves ₹500 crore project

The humongous sky deck will be 250 meters high, which is more than thrice the height of Delhi's Qutub Minar monument.

India’s tech capital is all set to build South Asia’s tallest Skydeck. Karnataka cabinet, on Thursday, approved the ₹500 crore project in a move to foster the state’s infrastructure. With the speculated height of approx 250 meters, the gigantic structure will provide a 360-degree view of Bengaluru.

HK Patil, Karnataka’s minister of law, and parliamentary affairs confirmed the news. He stated, “Karnataka government has approved South Asia’s tallest Skydeck. The Skydeck will be built in the city at a cost of ₹ 500 crore, which will show a 360-degree view of India’s technology capital.”

Currently, Bengaluru’s tallest building, CNTC Presidential Tower, stands at a height of over 160 meters. The humongous sky deck will be 250 meters high, which is more than thrice the height of Delhi’s Qutub Minar monument.

The initial plan

The Skydeck will be built on the NICE Road in outer Bengaluru. The initial plans were to make it in the middle of the city, but due to a couple of challenges, the government had to skip the plan. It was difficult to find a 25-acre land right at the centre of the state capital. Secondly, the defence ministry objected as there are multiple defence establishments in the middle of the city.

Its establishment in the middle of the city would have posed multiple problems, including threats to the airport, and increased traffic (which is ironically not new for the people of Bengaluru). Hence, the project shifted to outer Bengaluru.

Facilities in Skydeck

The Skydeck will feature some world-class facilities for tourists. By now, a luxurious shopping complex has been confirmed, but other facilities are yet to be disclosed. To further enhance the connectivity government is planning to bridge it with the city’s metro network.
