Delhi Police investigating the Delhi Riots case has accessed whatsapp chats of over 4 dozen people and stated in the chargesheet which states that the conspiracy was hatched to burn the capital in groups on Social Media.

Many accused have been arrested based on these chats, and there may be some more arrests soon as per sources. The details of the chats of WhatsApp groups Jamia Action Committee, DPSG (Delhi Protest Support Group) formed during the Delhi riots have also been included in the charge sheet.

Chats that were accessed by Times Now also further provide revelations of how the nexus spread across JNU, Jamia collected funds, weapons and people and planned extensive 'contribution' to the Delhi riots with the help of local politicians like Tahir Hussain.

Safoora Zargar's name was quite evident on many chats as one of the main conspirers, was arrested in connection with Delhi riots in April, was released on June 23 as the Delhi High Court granted bail after Centre agreed to release her on humanitarian ground. She was three months pregnant at the time of her release.

Zargar has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. She is the media coordinator of the Jamia Coordination Committee.

The prosecution has alleged that she made an “inflammatory speech” on February 23 that led to violence and rioting in North East Delhi, leaving at least 53 people dead and hundreds injured over the next three days.

Umar Khalid was also of the group chats which planned on getting on the streets to 'burn' the city down following which many people in the chat also said 'it might hurt us' fearing a backlash from authorities.

Delhi police also revealed that every car that was burned, had been checked with the VAAHAN to see if the owner was a Hindu and only cars who had muslim owners were spared.
