Election Commission dedicates violence-free polls to Mahatma Gandhi

The election officials said they refused to let anyone ruin the voting by spreading lies and groundless suspicions.

In a solemn ceremony at Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial in New Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, accompanied by Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and S S Sandhu, paid homage to the Father of the Nation, aligning the conduct of the elections with Gandhi’s principles of non-violence and democratic rights for all.

CEC Rajiv Kumar reiterated the Election Commission’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a violence-free electoral process, emphasizing that “There is no room for violence in democracy.”

This resolute stance was evident throughout the election process, reflecting the Commission’s commitment to conducting the elections in a manner that upheld the sanctity of democratic values.

The Election Commission also addressed and dispelled rumors and doubts that sought to undermine the electoral process, thereby averting potential unrest.
