The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 33 IAS officers and 3 IPS officers. The changes include District Magistrates (DMs) of 11 districts. This reshuffle was announced on Tuesday, and officials say it is aimed at strengthening the administrative system in various parts of the state.
New roles for top officials
One of the biggest changes is the transfer of Shishir, who was Director of Information. He has now been made the special secretary of MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), export promotion, and CEO of the Khadi Board. Kaushal Raj Sharma, who was the Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, is now the new Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Vishal Singh, who was the DM of Bhadohi, has been appointed as the new Director of Information and Culture. S Rajlingam, who was the DM of Varanasi, will now become the Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi.
The government has also transferred DMs of many other districts, including Hapur, Azamgarh, Bareilly, Ambedkarnagar, Ghazipur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Bhadohi.
According to the official list, L Venkateshwarlu has been relieved from his role as Principal Secretary of Transport. He will now take care of departments like Social Welfare, Military Welfare, and several government training and development institutes.
Amit Gupta has been given the charge of Principal Secretary, Transport, along with the Stamp and Registration Department. Satyendra Kumar, earlier Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, is now the DM of Varanasi.
Changes across many districts
Prerna Sharma, who was the DM of Hapur, will now be the Director of the State Urban Development Agency. Abhishek Pandey, Vice President of Meerut Development Authority, will be the new DM of Hapur.
Sanjay Kumar Meena, who was the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Gorakhpur, will now serve as Vice President of Meerut Development Authority. Shashvat Tripurari, Joint Magistrate of Aligarh, has been made the new CDO of Gorakhpur.
Ravindra Kumar, who was the DM of Bareilly, is now the DM of Azamgarh. Navneet Singh Chahal, earlier the DM of Azamgarh, has been moved to the Chief Minister’s Office as Special Secretary. Avinash Singh, DM of Ambedkarnagar, is now the DM of Bareilly. Anupam Shukla will replace him in Ambedkarnagar.
Other major changes include:
- Indrajit Singh becomes special secretary in the energy department.
- Gaurav Kumar is now municipal commissioner of Lucknow.
- Harshika Singh becomes CDO of Prayagraj.
- Aryaka Akhouri moves from Ghazipur to a new post in the Health Department.
- Avinash Kumar takes charge as DM of Ghazipur.
- Mridul Chaudhary moves from Mahoba to Jhansi.
- Gajal Bhardwaj becomes DM of Mahoba.
- Mahendra Singh Tomar becomes DM of Kushinagar.
- Vishal Bhardwaj moves to the Chief Minister's Office.
- Alok Kumar becomes DM of Sant Kabir Nagar.
Ujjwal Kumar has been made MD of the UP Medical Supply Corporation, and Pulkit Khare is the new Mission Director of the Skill Development Mission.
IPS transfers and police reassignments
Three senior IPS officers have also been shifted. DK Thakur is now ADG of the Special Security Force in Lucknow. Bhanu Bhaskar has been made ADG of the Meerut Zone, and Dr Sanjeev Gupta is now ADG of the Prayagraj Zone. The government has also transferred 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) as part of this reshuffle.
