About Khadi and Village Industries Board

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a government body under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in India. It was set up in 1957 to promote traditional and rural industries like hand-woven clothes, coir products, village oils, and handicrafts.

The main aim of KVIC is to create job opportunities in villages, support local artisans, and help preserve age-old crafts. KVIC works to improve rural life by encouraging people to start small businesses using local skills and resources. It has its main office in Mumbai, along with six zonal offices and several state offices across India. KVIC plans and runs various programs to support village industries and often works with other rural development organizations to reach more people.
