Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is planning to create replicas of the Tirupati shrine in every state and Union Territory across India. The TTD, which initially oversaw the affairs of only a few temples, has expanded its presence over the years. Since its establishment in 1933, the trust has set up 58 temples dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, with a majority of them located in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
The reports highlight that while the TTD initially focused on constructing and managing temples in Andhra Pradesh, its administration extended to other regions as well. The first temple outside of Andhra Pradesh that came under the TTD's administration was the Balaji Temple in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, in 1969. This marked the trust's expansion beyond its home state and demonstrated its commitment to broadening the presence of Lord Balaji's worship throughout the country.
TTD has been actively expanding its presence in various states. In 2019, a Lord Venkateswara temple was established in Kanyakumari, and more recently, on June 8 of this year, a temple was inaugurated in Jammu.
The TTD's plans for further expansion include laying the foundation for a replica of the Balaji temple in Maharashtra. The trust is also considering the construction of three more temples in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar.
TTD chairperson Subba Reddy expressed that the construction of temples across all 28 states and Union Territories is aimed at bringing the divine presence of Lord Balaji closer to devotees' doorsteps. The trust's endeavor reflects its commitment to making the worship of Lord Venkateswara accessible and inclusive for people across the country.
