A major explosion at a chemical factory in Pashamylaram Industrial Area, located in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, killed at least 12 workers and left over 22 others seriously injured. The incident happened at the Sigachi Chemicals plant in Patancheru, where a reactor is believed to have exploded during regular operations.

The blast caused a huge fire inside the factory, leading to panic and emergency response. Officials said the explosion took place without any warning, and many workers were caught off guard.

“At the time of the accident, around 150 workers were present. About 90 of them were at the exact spot where the blast occurred,” said Inspector General of Police Satyanarayana.

According to initial reports, six workers died on the spot, while two more died later during treatment. Others are being treated at different hospitals, and at least two to three people are in critical condition.

Inspector General Satyanarayana also said,

“Eight people have died in the incident. 26 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals with serious injuries.” He further added that firefighting teams, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Hydra cranes, and local police, are involved in ongoing rescue efforts.

The police have sealed off the area, and teams are working to stop the fire from spreading further. Many injured workers have been taken to nearby hospitals for emergency care.

An investigation has been started to find out what caused the explosion and to check whether proper safety rules were being followed at the factory. The damage to the factory is still being examined.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the incident and asked officials to take strong action to help the victims. He said that relief work must be increased and that injured workers should get proper medical help immediately.
