Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has launched a new political front, bringing together five smaller parties to contest the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. This development comes soon after his expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by his father and party chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Tej Pratap made the announcement during a press conference held on Tuesday. The event was attended by the national presidents of the five parties joining the coalition. These include the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janta Party (PJP), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP), and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP).

He also revealed that he will be contesting the elections from the Mahua assembly seat, which he previously represented until 2020. In the last election, the RJD had shifted him to Hasanpur. This time, he plans to run as an Independent candidate, backed by his new alliance.
Addressing the media, Tej Pratap said, “People are free to make fun of me, but I will tread my path. Our coalition will work for social justice, equal rights, and the complete transformation of Bihar.” He added that if the people give them a chance, they will work to develop the state and fulfil the dreams of leaders like Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori Thakur, and Jayaprakash Narayan.
He further claimed that he enjoys public support and highlighted his digital outreach through ‘Team Tej Pratap Yadav’, a social media platform created to connect with people directly. Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD on May 25, shortly after he publicly stated he was in a relationship with a woman named Anushka. He later deleted the post and said his account had been hacked. Despite this, his father removed him from the party for six years, calling his behaviour irresponsible.
After his expulsion, Tej Pratap alleged that a conspiracy was being plotted to create a rift between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, who is leading the RJD in the upcoming polls. In a series of posts, he referred to this betrayal using the word “Jaichand,” a metaphor for traitors in Indian history.
About Tej Pratap Yadav
Born to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers of Bihar, Tej Pratap and Tejashwi are two of four siblings who are actively involved in politics. With this new move, Tej Pratap seems determined to carve out his own political path, separate from the RJD.
