In a recent interview, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi disclosed his proactive steps to promote peace in the Middle East. He shared that during Ramzan, he sent a special representative to Israel with a message for peace. The envoy’s mission was to persuade Israel to refrain from airstrikes in Gaza during the holy month, emphasizing the importance of maintaining tranquillity over engaging in conflict.

Modi explained that despite his efforts and those of other nations to prevent violence, clashes occurred for a few days. The conflict in Gaza escalated following an attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, leading to significant casualties on both sides. The Israeli response resulted in numerous civilian deaths, with Israeli leadership vowing to continue until Hamas is defeated.
The Prime Minister also highlighted his unique approach to visiting Israel and Palestine, opting for separate trips to each, breaking from traditions of combined visits in the name of secularism. He recounted a notable incident involving travel to Palestine through Jordanian airspace, where the President of Jordan offered his personal helicopter for Modi’s journey, leading to a remarkable convergence of different national elements accompanying him.
