A victory rally celebrating India'sICC Champions Trophy win turned violent near Jama Masjid in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. As the rally moved through the area, some people started throwing stones at the crowd, leading to clashes between the two groups. The situation quickly escalated, with several vehicles being damaged. Miscreants also set two vehicles and two shops on fire, creating chaos in the area.
Locals reported that as the victory rally neared the Jama Masjid area, a large group of people started throwing stones, creating panic. Many rally participants abandoned their motorcycles and ran for safety. After the violence, a heavy police force from Indore Rural and Indore City was sent to control the situation. Although army personnel are present in Mhow, no separate army deployment was needed since it is an army cantonment with military units already stationed there.
Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal confirmed that tensions erupted between the two groups, leading to some incidents of violence after India’s victory. She stated that the clashes were triggered by firecrackers but assured that the situation was now completely under control.
She urged people not to believe in fake news and emphasized that an adequate police force is present, with continuous patrolling in the area. Authorities are investigating the incident, and those responsible will face action. So far, three people have been reported injured, and further investigations are underway.
Indore Collector Ashish Singh assured that the situation is under control and security forces have been deployed in the area. "How it happened will be determined later. For now, the situation is under control," he said.
