Rapper Shubhneet Singh, often known as Shubh, is a Punjabi-Canadian. He recently made headlines again for wearing a sweatshirt that purportedly made fun of the killing of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her bodyguards. Her bodyguards, two Sikh men, opened fire on her, and she died as a result of the horrific incident, which had grave consequences for India and the rest of the globe.

What is the subject of the dispute?

Shubh was reportedly spotted at a performance wearing a black sweatshirt with a graphic of the Punjab map on it, pleading for freedom as Sikh men were killing Indira Gandhi in the front of the image. A pro-Khalistani account called SherePanjabUK published a photo and a video from the London concert on social media, and now they are going viral. The video's caption said, "Panjabi Artist Shubh holding a hoodie of an illustration that shows Indian PM Indira Gandhi (aka maimuna begum) being greeted by Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh #NeverForget84."

Reportedly, the video is from Shubh's Sunday night concert which was held in London.

Shubh faces harsh criticism

Following the purported video's viral success, the singer faced harsh criticism. However, reports indicate that the sweatshirt he was wearing just included a map of Punjab rather than a parody of Indira Gandhi's death.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut denounced the crime and referred to it as a "cowardly killing of an old woman" shortly after the video went public. Shubh should be embarrassed for celebrating the attack on an old woman "who was disarmed and unaware," the critic added, slamming.

It is no stranger to controversy; around two months ago, Canada accused India of executing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the Canadian province of British Columbia, and it was accused of helping the separatists. The two nations' diplomatic relations have been worse ever since.

In the most recent past, Shubh was supposed to play in Mumbai from September 23 to 25 as a part of the Cordelia Cruise's Cruise Control 4.0 festival. The BJYM, on the other hand, has voiced disapproval, alleging that the musician has uploaded a skewed map of Kashmir and demonstrated sympathy for Khalistanis. As a result, The BJYM has submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police in Mumbai, demanding strict action against Shubhneet Singh and the cancellation of all his performances. They also called for the registration of an FIR against the rapper.
