A security agency has received an email threatening to assassinate PM Modi and also bomb the Narendra Modi stadium. The email also demanded Rs 500 crores and the release of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, said officials.
The National Investigation Agency shared the contents of the threat to Mumbai Police and Gujarat Police along with other security agencies related with the PM’s security. Mumbai Police are trying to find the origin of the email and has since increased the security across the city as the city is set to host five World Cup matches including a semi-final.
On Thursday morning, the city police control room received an alert from the NIA stating that a threat email was received which said, “Tumhari sarkar se hume 500 crore aur Lawrence bishnoi chahiye nahi to kal hum Narendra Modi ke sath narendra Modi stadium bhi uda denge. Hindustan me sabkuch bikta hai to humne bhi kuch kharid liya hai kitna bhi sequre karlo humse nahi bacha paoge agar baat karni hai to is mail par hi bat karna (We will blow up Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi stadium if the government does not give us Rs 500 crore and Lawrence Bishnoi. Everything sells in Hindustan, so we too have bought something. No matter how much you secure, you won’t be able to remain safe from us. If you wish to talk, do so on this email).”
It can be noted that India and Pakistan will be playing each other on the 14th of October at the Narendra Modi Stadium which hosted the inaugural match of the World Cup and will also host the final of the tournament. Meanwhile, Lawrence Bishnoi has been jailed since 2014 and is believed to be operating his gang from inside the prison. He faces several cases, including that of the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. His gang also recently claimed to have killed a Khalistani leader in Canada. He also had previously issued threats to Bollywood actor Salman as he claimed that his community was angry with the actor for the blackbuck killing incident.
