Police said the accused, who were arrested from Jawahar Nagar Colony, had posted a picture of the Prime Minister's Varanasi office on OLX website, stating that the premises was up for sale.
The accused listed a price of Rs 7.5 crore for the PM's office, as per reports.
According to senior police officials, the OLX ad had listed Prime Minister Modi's Parliamentary office in Varanasi as a villa with four rooms and four bathrooms with a carpet area of 6,500 square feet. It is located in the 77 parliamentary constituency. While this office, mainly used for public relations work of the Prime Minister, is located in Jawahar Nagar Extension, the advertisement reportedly showed the office located in Krishna Dev Nagar.
“Four people involved in the case have been taken in custody,” the SSP said, adding that the person who took the picture and put it on the website is among them.
The accused are being questioned, and further legal proceedings are being carried out, he said.
Prime Minister Modi, a four-time chief minister of Gujarat, was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Varanasi in 2014 and then re-elected from the constituency in 2019.
