PM Modi addressed his ministers in the first cabinet meeting that took place on Monday in New Delhi. In the meeting, he advised his ministers on certain grounds. He urged them to avoid making any unnecessary statements.
According to sources PM advised the ministers to “not make unnecessary statements and speak only when necessary on issues related to your ministry.”
The prime minister told the Union Ministers the importance of punctuality, he urged his ministers to “reach the Ministry on time” as it has a “positive effect on the office staff”.
He further instructed the Cabinet ministers to “send the file to your MoS also and involve the Minister of State in the decisions of the (concerned) Ministry”.
The Cabinet meeting was followed by the allotment of portfolios to 71 ministers who took oath on Sunday, with the PM himself. It is to be noted that the Big 4 ministries haven't seen any changes despite the coalition government. Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar retained their ministries as Home, Defence, Finance and External Affairs respectively.
In addition to that, the construction of 3 crore additional rural and urban houses was approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), during the inaugural cabinet meeting.
“The Cabinet has decided to further expand the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and construct 3 crore additional rural and urban houses. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the housing needs of our nation and ensuring that every citizen leads a better quality of life. The expansion of PMAY also highlights our government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare,” PM Modi posted on X.
