The 76th Republic Day Parade will take place on January 26, 2025, at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. This year, the event will have around 10,000 special guests from different backgrounds.

The government wants more people to participate in important national events, so they are inviting individuals who have done great work to help the country grow. These special guests are being called the creators of a "Golden India" and include people who have excelled in various areas or have benefitted from important government programs.

The invitees include village leaders (sarpanches), disaster relief workers, people who work to save water, artisans who create handloom and handicraft items, sports champions, start-up founders, and others who have made significant contributions.

Some of the categories of special guests are as follows:

The special guests invited for the Republic Day Parade include people who have done excellent work in different areas. Here are some key groups:

  • Rural Leaders and Water Protectors: village leaders (sarpanches) whose villages have done well in government programs and water conservation champions who work to use water responsibly.
  • Community Helpers: Members of self-help groups (SHGs) who focus on improving health, cleanliness, and creating jobs. Women SHG members who had never visited Delhi before were given special priority.
  • Skilled Workers and Artisans: people skilled in handloom and handicrafts, those trained under skill development programs, and individuals who benefitted from government schemes like PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Farmers and Environmental Champions: Farmers taking part in government programs like PM-KISAN and people promoting clean energy through the PM KUSUM scheme.

Athletes who have made the country proud are also invited to the Republic Day Parade. This includes Paralympians, winners of chess and bridge competitions, and champions in international snooker tournaments.

In addition, innovators, founders of new businesses (start-ups), and people who have created unique inventions (patent holders) are also invited. They represent the spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship in India.

The government held a competition to find the best-performing panchayats (village councils) based on how well they implemented important government programs. Panchayats that met the targets in six or more programs were chosen as special guests.

Other invited guests include ASHA workers (healthcare helpers), forest and wildlife volunteers, and disaster relief workers, who were selected for their outstanding work in helping people and protecting nature.

The government also focused on inviting people who have never seen the beauty of Delhi. This includes volunteers from the My Bharat program, members of small village credit societies, and Anganwadi workers who care for children and mothers.

Patriotic students join the celebration

Young schoolchildren with a strong sense of patriotism, including winners of the All India School Band Competition and the Veer Gatha competition, will also attend the Republic Day Parade.

The special guests will not only watch the parade but also visit important places in Delhi, like the National War Memorial and the PM Sangrahalaya. They will also meet with ministers and have opportunities to share their inspiring work.

Encouraging Public Participation

The Republic Day celebrations are meant to honour people who are helping India grow and inspire others with their achievements. This event shows the government’s effort to include a wide range of people and recognise the unsung heroes working at the community level.

By inviting such a diverse group, the government wants to highlight India's strength and unity while encouraging more public involvement in important national events.Â
