New York-style Times Square coming to Hyderabad’s IT corridor

The T Square aims to become a major tourist destination, featuring vibrant urban areas, an entertainment hub, collaboration zones, and commercial intersections.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Times Square in New York, the Telangana government has revealed plans to create a similar public space called the ‘T Square’ within Knowledge City, Raidurgam.

An official from the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) shared that the T Square will serve as an open plaza for communication, allowing people to gather freely throughout the day. The design aims to incorporate greenery and create a micro urban lung for the neighborhood. Various events, from impromptu concerts to organized gatherings, will celebrate local spirit within this vibrant space.

Similar to Times Square, the T Square will feature dynamic digital billboards. TGIIC has already sought consultancy proposals for architectural and transaction advisory services to ensure the project’s success.

The vision for the T Square extends beyond a mere public space. According to a TGIIC official, it will become a major tourist destination, offering vibrant urban areas, an entertainment hub, collaboration zones, and commercial intersections.

Vision of Vibrant Urban Areas and Collaboration Zones

Hitec City and the Financial District, collectively known as Cyberabad, currently serve as Hyderabad’s central business district. However, TGIIC officials recognize that public amenities in this rapidly developing area fall short of meeting the expectations of the neo-rich middle class and tech-savvy youth. The ‘T Square’ proposal aims to bridge this gap.

As part of the project, TGIIC has invited requests for proposal (RFP) for consultancy services. The focus is on improving corridor connectivity from Durgam Cheruvu Cable Stayed Bridge (end of I-Labs) to Shilpa Layout Flyover (via T-hub), covering approximately 2.2 kilometers.

Blending Times Square Inspiration with Local Flair in Telangana

The ‘T Square’ promises to be a dynamic addition to Telangana’s urban landscape, blending inspiration from Times Square with local flair and functionality.
