Mumbai has been put on high alert after a serious threat call was received on Friday. The caller claimed that 34 “human bombs” carrying around 400 kg of RDX have been placed in 34 vehicles across the city, with the aim of carrying out blasts.

According to the police, the call was made on the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline number and a message was also sent to their official WhatsApp number. The threatening message said that the blasts would be so big that they would “shake the entire Mumbai.”

As soon as the threat was received, Mumbai Police swung into action. Security across the city has been tightened, with more police checking points, patrolling, and surveillance in busy areas. Officials said that all possible angles of the threat are being checked, and the situation is being monitored closely to prevent any untoward incident.

The message also claimed to be from a group calling itself "Lashkar-e-Jihadi." According to the message, 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India and are planning to attack Mumbai. The group claimed that 400 kg of RDX explosives would be used in the blasts.

Police officials confirmed that they are taking the threat very seriously. “Mumbai Police is alert and security across the state has been enhanced. An investigation is on to verify the source of the threat and its authenticity,” they said.

This threat has naturally raised concern, as Mumbai has been targeted in the past by terror attacks, including the 26/11 attacks in 2008. The mention of “human bombs” and such a large quantity of RDX has made the situation even more alarming.

At present, police are scanning vehicles, keeping strict watch on crowded public places, and coordinating with central agencies to track any possible terrorist activity. The authorities have urged citizens to stay calm, remain alert, and immediately report anything suspicious.
