Mother Dairy has increased the price of milk by ₹2 per litre starting Wednesday, April 30. This price hike affects all types of milk, including full cream, toned, double-toned, and cow milk. Now, a one-litre pack of full cream milk will cost ₹69, up from the previous ₹68. The company had also raised prices in June 2024 because of higher production costs.
Revised rates
Starting Wednesday, April 30, Mother Dairy will implement the following price changes on its milk products: Toned milk (bull vended) will increase to ₹56 per litre from ₹54, full cream milk (pouch) will rise to ₹69 per litre from ₹68, toned milk (pouch) will now cost ₹57 per litre, up from ₹56, double toned milk will go up to ₹51 per litre from ₹49, and cow milk will be priced at ₹59 per litre, up from ₹57.
Why this price hike?
Mother Dairy officials said that the price hike is a result of rising procurement costs, which have increased by ₹4-5 per litre. The surge in procurement prices is attributed to the early arrival of summer and ongoing heatwave conditions. A spokesperson for Mother Dairy stated, "This price revision has been necessitated to address the significant increase in procurement costs over the past few months."
Mother Dairy sells approximately 35 lakh litres of milk daily in the Delhi-NCR region through its outlets, general trade, and e-commerce platforms. A company official explained that the price hike reflects only a partial pass-through of the increased procurement costs. The goal is to balance the interests of both farmers and consumers. The official further emphasized that Mother Dairy remains committed to ensuring a steady supply of quality milk while supporting the livelihoods of farmers.
