External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Qatar’s top leadership on Sunday and held talks on major parts of the India-Qatar relationship, including energy, trade, and investment. He met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in Doha.

After the meeting, Jaishankar wrote on X, "Pleased to meet Qatar's Prime Minister & Foreign Minister @MBA_AlThani_ in Doha. Reviewed key aspects of our Strategic Partnership, including energy, trade, investment, and people-to-people connections. Appreciate the exchange of views on Middle East/West Asia, regional and global developments."

According to the Qatar News Agency, both leaders also spoke about ways to make the partnership stronger and improve cooperation in different areas.

During his visit, Jaishankar also called on Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and highlighted India’s intention to deepen ties with the Gulf nation.

He said, "reiterated our commitment to stronger India-Qatar relations. Value his guidance on expanding collaboration and exploring new opportunities."

As per data from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the bilateral trade between India and Qatar stood at USD 14.08 billion in 2023–24, showing the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries.
