Vaishnaw further stated that the ministry is working closely with all railway zones and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to tackle the issue at its root. “We are committed to taking strict action against those involved in such illegal activities, ensuring that these incidents are not repeated and the culprits are brought to justice,” he affirmed.

However, Vaishnaw refrained from providing specific details about the NIA’s involvement in the ongoing investigations. This comes in the wake of several alarming incidents where train drivers reported spotting dangerous objects on tracks, intended to cause derailments and put passengers’ lives at risk.

On September 22, a potential disaster was averted when a goods train driver travelling from Kanpur to Prayagraj applied emergency brakes after spotting a gas cylinder placed on the tracks. Just a few days prior, on September 15, another incident took place near Kanpur, where a damaged cylinder and other dangerous items were discovered on the tracks just before the Kalindi Express arrived.

Another such incident took place on September 21 when unidentified individuals sabotaged the railway track with a fishplate and key in Uttar Pradesh, but thanks to Keyman Subhash Kumar’s quick actions, approaching trains were halted in time. Three railway employees were arrested for allegedly conspiring to derail a train while in a separate incident, nine iron rods were found on the Bhatinda-Delhi route early Sunday morning around 3 a.m.
