On January 27, police in Bengaluru, Karnataka, registered a case under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act against 18 people, including Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan and former Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Balaram. According to reports, the case was filed based on the orders of the 71st city civil and session court (CCH), as quoted by the news agency PTI.

Durgappa, a man who worked at IISc, claims that in 2014, he was wrongly accused of being part of a honey trap case. He says that because of this false accusation, he was fired from his job at the IISc, where Kris Gopalakrishnan was a member of the Board of Trustees.

Durgappa, who belongs to the Bovi tribal community, worked as a teacher at IISc's Centre for Sustainable Technology. He claims that he was wrongly accused in the honey trap case and faced abuse and threats based on his caste. Several other people are also involved in the case, including Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, and Sandya Vishwswaraih. So far, neither the IISc faculty nor Kris Gopalakrishnan have commented on the matter.
