This G20 summit is the 18th G20 meeting which is going to be held at Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from September 9- 10, 2023.
This is the first Indian presidency summit chaired by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the guidance of Amitabh Kant, Indian emissary to G20 and CEO of NITI Aayog. The summit will be conducted in the presence of 20 participant leaders, 10 invited guests, and 11 International organization leaders with the motto of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (ONE EARTH, ONE FAMILY, ONE FUTURE). The summit is preceded by the 2022 G20 Bali Summit and will be followed by the 2024 Rio de Janeiro Summit.
The capital of India is all set to welcome dignitaries across nations. Delhi has announced 3 days of public holiday from September 08, Friday to September 10, Sunday. All schools, colleges, and public and private offices will be shut down for these 3 days. The traffic restrictions will start from September 07, midnight in order to provide safer traffic movement for the dignitaries. Traffic police assured the public that no need to fear as there is the shutdown of schools, colleges, malls, and companies and they carried carcade rehearsal on Monday from the airport to various hotels and from various hotels to the summit venue to ensure the safety of VIPs and easy, smart & safe travel of the dignitaries.
Traffic restrictions on the eve of the G20 summit are as follows,
- Restriction of movement of heavy vehicles except those carrying essential goods.
- The routes taken by the dignitaries will be from the airport to 18 hotels and from hotels to the summit venue and then to Rajghat.
- Vehicular movement around the Delhi airport will be of prime importance.
- DTC buses will also be diverted.
